In October 2016, the Chinese government introduced a new system for issuing work visas to foreigners. According to the new procedure, applicants will now be ranked according to a 100-point system covering various criteria, such as education, age, language skills, or workplace. With the new policy being currently tested in Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Anhui, Shandong, Guangdong, Sichuan and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, this seminar aims at offering a first glimpse at the practical implementation of the new rules.

Before the background on the traditional regulations, which themselves are rather flexible, ECOVIS Beijing's Torsten Weller will highlight the recent changes in Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai in order to inform you about the process and prospects of the reform, and what it means for your business and employees. Important questions discussed will be:

  1. From open door to selected entry - The evolution of China's visa regime for foreign workers
  2. China's New Work Permit - What was announced and what came out of it.
  3. In search of Permit A38 - How to navigate China's labor bureau?
  4. There can be only one General Manager - the pitfalls of position related visas?
  5. How to get a hundred points? -  What qualifications matter and how much?
  6. Hitting the age ceiling? - How to keep experienced managers in China?
